Shoulda, coulda, woulda… but didnt!

Dang, I put my bid in for $1,400 on this copper lion I recognized at an auction in Philly last week, I would have bid more but it was plus 20% buyers premium, and arranging pickup, packing and shipping by a third party which would have brought it up to around $1,800
Someone else wound up with this fine copper lion for $1,500 but oh well, I know for a fact there’s more of these out there since I know where they were removed from and approx how many and by whom around 1975 so I’m confident others will come on the market as people retire, die, or need the cash in today’s economic slowdown.

There was in fact also up for bids a Commodore hotel copper mask like the one I have which ran me $2,500 delivered, this one in the Philly auction went for $2,300 so I’m pleased the price I paid a year or so ago for mine is right in line with what a major auction house felt the value is.
There were many of those as well, that was the 3rd or 4th I’ve seen for sale in the last couple of years.

I didnt bid on this one at the auction because I already have one and wanted the lion instead. Oh well, there will be more that come up that’s for sure.
